Our Methodology

How We Separate Evidence From Marketing.

SynMale evaluates ED drugs and sexual-performance products using the same core standards: clinical evidence, ingredient transparency, regulatory status, manufacturing confidence, safety information, and accuracy of marketing claims.

Not every product has enough reliable information to receive a numerical score. When evidence is limited, SynMale says so.

01 · The SynMale Principle

We Grade the Evidence — Not the Hype.

SynMale covers everything from established prescription medications to obscure supplements and unverified products. Every one is held to the same questions, regardless of how well-known it is.

  • Popularity does not equal effectiveness.
  • A recognizable brand does not automatically establish quality.
  • A label claim does not prove what is actually inside a product.
  • A scientifically valid ingredient does not automatically make every product containing that ingredient trustworthy.
  • Lack of evidence is not automatically evidence that something does not work — but uncertainty should be clearly disclosed.

02 · Evidence Grades

The SynMale Evidence Grade

A

Strong Evidence

Supported by substantial clinical evidence, established pharmacology, and reliable medical documentation.

B

Good Supporting Evidence

Reasonable scientific and clinical support exists, although evidence may be less extensive than established first-line medications.

C

Limited Evidence

Some scientific rationale or preliminary evidence exists, but substantial questions remain.

D

Weak Evidence

Claims rely heavily on marketing, anecdotal reports, theoretical mechanisms, or low-quality evidence.

F

Unsupported / Contradicted

Claims lack credible support or conflict with available reliable evidence.

?

Unknown

Not enough trustworthy information is available to assign a responsible grade.

Evidence Grade evaluates the quality of available information. It does not tell an individual whether a particular treatment is medically appropriate for them.

03 · Verification Level

Science vs. the Product in Your Hand

Evidence Grade asks

"Does the science support this?"

Verification Level asks

"Can we confidently establish what this particular product actually is?"

Well VerifiedPartially VerifiedLimited VerificationUnverifiedConflicting Information
Example

Sildenafil as an active pharmaceutical ingredient may have Grade A evidence. An unknown tablet claiming to contain sildenafil may still receive:

Evidence (the ingredient)
A
Verification (the actual product)
Unverified

04 · Regulatory Status

The Regulatory Labels We Use

FDA Approved

Prescription medication approved for a specific use.

Compounded

Prepared by a compounding pharmacy and not equivalent to FDA approval of the finished compounded product.

Dietary Supplement

Regulated differently from prescription medications and not FDA-approved as an ED drug.

Foreign-Market Medication

May be legitimately authorized in another country but should not automatically be treated as FDA-approved.

Unapproved Product

Contains or claims to contain pharmaceutical ingredients without applicable approval.

Gray-Market Product

A product whose sourcing, distribution, manufacturing, or regulatory status may be difficult to verify.

Unknown Status

Insufficient reliable information exists.

05 · What We Evaluate

Seven Questions Behind Every Profile

01

Clinical Evidence

  • — Are there controlled studies?
  • — Is the active ingredient well established?
  • — How strong and reproducible are the findings?
02

Ingredient Transparency

  • — Are active ingredients disclosed?
  • — Are amounts disclosed?
  • — Can those claims be independently verified?
03

Regulatory Status

  • — What category does the product legally fall into?
  • — Has the medication or formulation received applicable regulatory approval?
04

Manufacturing Transparency

  • — Can the manufacturer be identified?
  • — Are manufacturing standards disclosed?
  • — Is independent testing available?
05

Pharmacology

  • — Does the proposed mechanism make biological and pharmacological sense?
06

Safety Information

  • — Are interactions and contraindications known?
  • — Are adverse effects documented?
  • — Are there concerns about undisclosed pharmaceutical ingredients?
07

Marketing Accuracy

  • — Do advertising claims match available evidence?
  • — Are words such as “instant,” “natural,” “clinically proven,” or “no side effects” adequately supported?

06 · SynMale Verdicts

Verdicts Judge the Whole Product

Evidence Grade and SynMale Verdict are different. The verdict considers the complete product — contents, source, dosage, regulatory status and claims — rather than merely one ingredient.

Example
A product could contain an ingredient with strong scientific evidence but still receive UNVERIFIED, because SynMale cannot confirm the dosage, manufacturing source, or actual contents of that particular product.

07 · Performance Scores

The 1–5 Scorecard

Established medications are scored from 1 to 5 across six categories:

Onset Speed
Duration
Potency & Reliability
Tolerability
Convenience
Overall Score

About SynMale Ratings

SynMale numerical ratings — including Reliability, Tolerability, Onset, Duration and the Overall Editorial Score — are editorial comparison tools informed by:

  • Consistency of published clinical efficacy results
  • Predictability of onset and duration
  • Established dosing information
  • Adverse-effect data
  • Treatment discontinuation data where available
  • Practical dosing flexibility
  • Strength and consistency of available clinical evidence

These numbers are not efficacy percentages, clinical success rates, or predictions of individual response.

Insufficient Data

Products without sufficient evidence do not receive a performance score. We show this label instead of inventing a numerical rating.

08 · Uncertainty

When We Don't Know, We Say We Don't Know.

SynMale uses precise editorial language so readers can tell what is established and what is only claimed. We never convert uncertainty into certainty merely to make an article more interesting.

"Claims to contain""Reported to contain""Could not be independently verified""Available evidence suggests""Insufficient clinical evidence""Manufacturing source could not be confirmed""Dosage could not be verified"

09 · Corrections & Updates

Information Changes.

  • Regulatory warnings can change
  • Products can be reformulated
  • Manufacturers can change
  • New research can appear
  • Products may be recalled
  • Laboratory testing may reveal new information

Every profile is designed to show three dates:

10 · Medical Review

Medical Review

Where professional medical review has been completed, SynMale will clearly identify the reviewing clinician and the date of review.

11 · Independence

No Pay-to-Play Ratings.

SynMale ratings should not change because a manufacturer, seller, pharmacy, or advertiser pays for coverage. If SynMale ever accepts advertising or sponsorship, editorial ratings remain separate from commercial relationships.

Understand What You're Looking At.

SynMale exists because established prescription medications, supplements, compounded formulations, imported drugs, and questionable male-enhancement products are often discussed as though they belong in the same category. They don't.

Our job is to identify the differences, explain what is known, highlight what isn't known, and give readers enough context to understand the product in front of them.
